Being unable to touch another person, this isolation leads her to be petulant, sarcastic and alarmingly defensive... in many ways a typical teenager. She is unpredictable and has a very complicated personality. Due to her powers her personality is a mixture of everybody she has touched, and her memories are not her owns anymore. She tends to be antisocial, cynical, defensive, distant, fearful, gentle, hesitant, hopeful, independent, misunderstood, mysterious, naive, pessimistic, rebellious, sarcastic, silent, strong-willed, uncertain and untouchable.

Her isolation has led her to have trouble trusting people, in other words she does not trust anyone. She is not the perfect girl, and she feels better hanging with the bad guys. She is at risk of turning bad.

Her complicated personality is also due to her past. She is from Mississippi, and the first manifestation of her powers was frightening. She attended to a dance her school had provided, and a guy named Cody invited her to dance with him. During the dance Rogue's powers manifested and she absorbed the young boy memories, abilities and strength. Rogue became confused, disillusioned and disoriented. Cody's memories replaced her own personality, and a heavy sense of fight overwhelmed her. Rogue ran away. She became scared and alone, she did not know who her friends were.

Irene Adler was the woman Rogue was living with. Irene Adler is Destiny, a woman who can see glimpses of future events. Destiny had discovered Rogue's ability and that was one of the reasons she alerted Mystique. Darkholme thought she could put Rogue's power to a proper use: possibly to help herself reach her own goals.

Mystique used her morphing abilities to disguise herself as members of the X-Men, and confused Rogue. When Rogue met the real X-Men she was afraid of them, and accidentally she kept touching and absorbing their powers. The X-Men were trying to recruit her, but Rogue was too scared to willingly join them. She ran away and stayed neutral after being accepted into Bayville High. It seemed that in the end Rogue would join the Brotherhood. But things did not happen as Mystique had planed.

One day at school Rogue was in a workout room when she saw Scott and Jean talking about a field trip they were going to go. Principal Darkholme told Rogue that she was going to go on the trip. Later Jean was told that she was not able to go, and Rogue would take her place. While the students and the teacher were traveling on the bus, the bus driver lost control of the vehicle because of a blizzard that was moving in on the mountain. The bus almost ran off the cliff, but Scott managed to make a barrier to stop the bus. Rogue then suggested that they take their snowmobile to a cave and wait out the weather there. When Rogue met up with Scott on a snowmobile, she challenged him to a race. At one point Rogue almost knocked Scott off the ledge of the mountain. Rogue won and told Scott that she was "full of surprises". After being separated from their classmates, at a later time they had an open chance to discover more about one another.

When the students were learning about igneous rock, Scott saw Rogue enter into the cave. He followed her and they got into an argument about what they wanted from Rogue. A classmate, Paul interrupted them. They discovered that their group had been looking for them. Rogue started to leave, but was stopped when Paul turned into Mystique and pushed Scott over the edge of a cliff. Mystique explained to Rogue that she was only trying to protect her from Professor Xavier and the X-Men. Rogue got upset, and drained Mystique's powers and memories. She found out the truth, and went to save Scott. They were hit with a boulder by Mystique and went tumbling down into the water. They eventually got stuck on a mountain ledge after getting pulled from the water's rough rapids. Rogue tried to signal someone with Scott's laser beams. Mystique came back and morphed into a wolf. She tried to attack an injured Scott and a scared Rogue. The girl took action and drained Scott's powers to get ride of Mystique. Just around that time the X-Jet arrived to save them. When both were safe inside the jet, Wolverine asked what side Rogue is on, and she chose the X-Men. Back at the Institute the Professor apologized for not telling the X-Men who Mystique really is.

Despite being always a solitary girl, when the team members needed her help she was there to help them. When Sabretooth was stalking the X-Men, Rogue (with the help of Evan and Kitty) was the one who stopped him absorbing his powers. After Mystique revealed that she was Kurt's mother, Rogue comforted the blue boy.

Rogue is not the perfect student like Jean and she hates being told what to do by her or had anything to do with her. However, Rogue chose to help her when Jean was suffering from the sudden power surge of her own telepathic abilities.

Like all teenagers, she also enjoys parties and having fun. One day the professor went to repair the damage in the "prison" were Juggernaut is held captive. The kids got rid of Scott and Jean, and threw a party in the mansion. A girl named Risty led a boy named Arcade to Cerebro, which he thought was a giant game. The X-men successfully stopped Arcade, and Rogue let him unconscious.

Rogue is a rebel like Tabitha Smith (Boom Boom), and when Tabitha, Amara Aquilla (Magma) and Jean formed a group, Rogue and Kitty Pryde (Shadowcat) also joined them. The group was called Bayville Sirens, and they fought crime each night catching thieves. They successfully caught the gang, but the police arrived. A policewoman let them escape after they promised to give up this kind of life. The official was Mystique, but the girls did not know this.

Kitty and Rogue always do things together and mostly pair up together. Once they acted in the school play "Dracula: The Rock Opera". Rogue also has a weird relationship with Kurt. He is her half brother, so she understands what they are going through and sometimes pairs with him. Once they went together with Logan (Wolverine) to try and stop the Operation: Rebirth, with which humans could be altered to be superhumans, but with deadly side effects. Rogue isn't close to Evan Daniels (Spyke), however, when Kurt, Kitty, and Evan do something radical they always drag Rogue in.

Destiny had met up with Mystique to warn her that Rogue might die. One day Rogue was playing tennis with Scott. When he left, she began to have strain in her mind because memories of the Blob came back causing her to throw the racket against the wall. Logan confronted her but Kitty dragged her away to school before she could answer. Even in school, the powers of others had been active. She phased through the bathroom door and found Risty. Risty explained her absence saying that her parents would not allow her to leave England because of the Mutant Business. Rogue walked out with Risty to get a drink of water when suddenly electricity from Storm's powers flew everywhere. Rogue ran away scared. Risty found her outside and Rogue explained to her how she can put her into a coma if she touches her. Risty seemed to be frightened but she told Rogue to go to the concert to make fun of everyone who goes to the concert.

That night Scott, Jean, Kurt, Tabitha, Kitty, and Jamie went to the concert. Rogue was feeling a little crowded. Somebody accidentally ripped off Rogue's sleeve and people began pushing her. Rogue absorbed the crowd's energies and also Risty's, but she was Mystique and Rogue absorbed her shape-shifting powers. Both girls screamed and began to panic. Risty transformed into Mystique. Rogue suddenly morphed into Sabretooth and began wrecking the entire place. The X-Men used their powers to slow down Sabretooth not knowing it was Rogue. Jamie jumped on her and she absorbed his powers too. She transformed into Juggernaut and ran away. Mystique ran after her. Rogue went to an alley to cry because she became confused about everything. Mystique came to her and tried to talk to her. Rogue transformed into Mystique and began yelling at her for using her to spy on the X-Men. She tried to fight her and Mystique said that she adopted her when Rogue was four years old.

Rogue became so upset that she ran away again and teleported to a rooftop. Wolverine was looking for her. She shape shifted into Sabretooth again and attacked Wolverine. Logan knew it was not Sabretooth because it smelled different. The other X-Men came and Cyclops blasted her into a warehouse. Wolverine told Cyclops that Rogue's powers had gone crazy when they searched inside the warehouse. Rogue asked them to help her but Cyclops said that they would because they are her friends. This made Rogue angry because she remembered what Mystique had done to her. She flew out of the warehouse using everyone's powers against the X-Men. Wolverine realized that she had control of all their powers and they were in danger. Luckily Storm, Professor Xavier and the Beast came to the rescue. Wolverine talked to her and told her that she was able to fight all the people in her head. Xavier blocked them out and Rogue ended up in the infirmary. Xavier explained to Scott that Rogue might be left very fragile. Wolverine sat by her bedside until she woke up. Mystique had a talk with Destiny. She said that Rogue is now in their future. However, an ancient Mutant will rise back on Earth again.

Rogue is just a normal teenager with a gothic twist. She can be more at home with the Brotherhood, but she still hates the Brotherhood. Rogue especially hates rooming with Kitty. She finds her annoying and selfish, but seems to be the closest with her since they are seen hanging out together. Rogue also hates Jean because she is everything Rogue is not: kind, generous, and she can touch people without actually knocking them out. The nicest Jean is to Rogue, the more Rogue hates her for it. Rogue does respect her, and even risked her own life to help Jean control her powers. Rogue also has a friendship with Kurt, since he too does not know a lot about his past, and both share a relationship with Mystique.

She does not show a lot of her feelings to the others, she keeps them to herself most of the time. She is very responsible, and while she hates always wearing clothes on almost every part of her body (even wearing gloves all the time), she wears them because she does not want to hurt anybody. She created an unapproachable exterior for herself, and forced away all evident traces of kindness to prevent an easy befriending. She is sensitive, sentient, and terribly delicate of heart. Her initial reason for keeping to herself provides evidence of her concern and care for others. Though she rarely permits her guard to lower, when it happens her true identity can be seen. She is an intelligent, loyal, protective, compassionate young woman in the presence of those whom she holds respect for, and that is when her true self is exposed.
